Artist's Trading Cards (ATC's)
What is an Artist's Trading Card? It is a card that is the size of a standard playing card--2 1/2 x 3 1/2 made of cloth or paper. It can be stamped, dyed, painted, sewn, glued, beaded, or not and always has your name on it. Made to be traded, never sold.
We hope you will bring lots of materials to share with friends including: Fabrics, stiff paper, rubber stamps and ink pads, needle and thread, and a permanent ink sharpie pen.
Don't get bogged down with trying to figure out what you want to do, but let everyone jump in and make anything that comes to their minds. Another great idea is to start an ATC, do one thing to it, pass it to the left, do another thing on it, and so on until the original comes back to you. You can make as many as you wish and they are quick and easy. Mary and Janet Kay will be there to guide you, help you, and steal all the cards they can get! YUK.
Bring your own supplies or buy a kit for $5.00 at the meeting.
All paid members are encouraged to participate and it is FREE!
If you want to read about ATC's there are several books--one I have is "Artist Trading Card Workshop. Create, Collect, Swap." by Bernie Berlin. The web has some good sites as well.

Catching the Light: A Review of my 38 Year Journey with Seed Beads
This talk will be a review of Wendy's career as a bead artist that began in 1970 in Colorado. She will show slides of the different types of beadwork she has created over the years along with commentary of places where she got stuck and how she was able to overcome the blocks. Wendy is one of the leading seed bead artists in the world of beading today. She will speak at our regularly scheduled meeting and we will hold a three-day workshop learning her process. Her website is www.ellsworthstudios.com.

2008 Programs E-survey
Here it is, our first 'Programs E-survey' I talked about during the April 2008 meeting. This survey is quick and easy (only 10 questions), so please take a moment to complete this survey. I promise, it's painless and very valuable to future programs. We will have this survey open from May 12th to May 31st, 2008. This survey will be closed on June 1st. We hope to capture as much helpful information so that we can have it available during our June meeting, and present to RMBS members. Here's your chance to make a difference for future programs, please take 2 to 3 minutes of your time to complete this survey, it will make a difference. Thank you to Madam President, Vicky Lubthisophon, for finding SurveyMonkey. It will be much faster and easier to capture your responses!

Be sure to check whether a group is still meeting before attending!
- Bead Study Group
Every second and third Monday, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., a small group of us gather in the Anthropology office's work room at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, under the sponsorship of Joyce Herold, Curator of Ethnology. Our purpose? At first, we gathered to learn more about beads and help catalog some of the beads in the museum's collection. As time went on, we realized that perhaps while we were cataloging, we could help further the study of beads by putting together a bead sample collection that people could access to further their own study of beads. We continued to study, catalog, and work on building a sample collection. Then a few years ago an incredible thing happened: the museum was able to acquire a truly wonderful ethnographic collection of Chinese beads--the Lewis Collection. So, not only did we have the opportunity to study and catalog beads, but we could do so from an ethnographic context, as well. We hope do a program soon to share with all of you some of the things we have discovered and learned. If any of you would like to join us in our journey to learn more about beads in general, and those at DMNH specifically, we would love to have you join us. Call Dale Zitek, (303) 763-7107, if you are interested. We hope you are. We would love to have more of you join us in our quest.
- Lone Tree Beaders
The Lone Tree Beaders is a beading interest group that meets on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month in Lone Tree at the Lone Tree Civic Center, 8527 Lone Tree Parkway, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00ish. We are sponsored by the Lone Tree Arts Commission and guided by an advisory committee that consults the group for input. We share a common love of beading and are committed to creating an environment that supports expanding knowledge, increasing skill level and artistry, as well as fostering creativity. We choose to work in a relaxed, freindly manner, with minimal organization. We have many levels of experience, welcome all who have at least some experience in beading, and are willing to share. Each meeting has a demonstration of technique or a project presentation by a member. We also plan to have some special classes. If you'd like more information, e-mail our Lone Tree Beaders representative or (303) 790-9855.
